| BOLA diesel fuel
Taking the little lady down to LA Bay in a couple weeks. This will be my first trip down there with my diesel truck. I'll have enough fuel to get from el Rosario and back, but maybe not if we want to go do some exploring. I know LA Bay reliably has gasoline at Casa Diaz, but what about diesel? Is it available on a regular basis? Otherwise I'll be jerry jugging it.

I don't know the answer on diesel down there, but if you 'jerry jug' it, hide em. Don't let the border weenies see the jugs. That is how they get free fuel, by taking yours and claiming you can't bring any.

I havent been on a Camping / outback / fishing / working / vacation since I bought my diesel. However, we were very keen on our gas consumption, and the rule of thumb in the remote areas was diesel was available pretty much always, maybe full of leaves or 1/4 water, but available. Gas was waaaay iffy below El Rosario; until Guerro Negro. (that reads....."Catavina' may or may not have fuel.")
El Toro, unless you can verify availability, I think I would continue south the 50 miles or so to GN and fill up. Or do the can thing in ER.
Good luck, man....have a great trip! (that reads.....fuck I wish I was going!)

Rule #1 in Baja... fill up everything each time you can, the next station may be closed, torn down, or the guy might not want to run the generator until dark...

BRING FUEL FILTERS!!!!
Last two trips down south I went through 3 total!
There is some sheety fuel down there.
I plan on adding an additional filter to catch the big chunks before they hit the factory filter.
Good luck.

| BOLA Fuel
there is always fuel (gas and diesel) at BOLA,, only you will pay a bit more for it.
I take 3 - 5 gal cans,, all I need for the retun to el rosario... you can always get fuel anywere they have tires lined up on the road.. they sell it all the time to the trucks...
take your own cans or a FILTER for any fuel you buy in BAJA from the locals...
Have fun
Tell Guillermo and Igor,,, the fam-s hi for me.

We bought Diesel my last trip there (Late may 2004). It was hand pumped from a 55 gallon drum and was less expensive than US prices even then. We would not have been able to buy lots of diesel I am sure....but 10 gallons for insurance was no problem.

Can you use red dye diesel once you are in Mexico? Diesel is getting out of control. I put $80/$2.46 gallon in my truck today and that's the stock tank. I paid $2.36 for red dye for the boat!

Dayle, The red dye leaves stains in your fuel system and the fines are very high. Mexican fuel is still less than $2.00/gal.
