K&M Offshore, San Quintin Baja

This week has been great, with lots of action inshore as well as offshore.
The thick marine layer has moved out so its gotten alot hotter the last couple days, Capt. We had a group of guys over the weekend and did great on Yellowtail at the inshore reefs, there were a couple dorado caught outside but bush was scarce. Outside good water continues to push into SQ and then head out north of colonett towards the 117s where it mixes wt cooler water. The Hovan ridge that runs N-S along the 1000 fathom curve is the ticket in Oct-Nov, This is probably the best time of year for this fishery and last year was no different with good fishing all the way into December. We have lots of openings as this time of year is usually slow so if you havent got your tuna fix this year give us a call.

News: SAGARPA (fish&game) has implemented a new remote vessel ID system that can verify a vessels ID and permit status by some remote
gizmo, so i got a microchip implanted in the transoms of the boats now and some new ID numbers on the hull. Only fully registered boats qualify.
I wasnt super stoked when the dude wanted to drill a hole in my boats ass
but the "microchip" is about the size of a grain of rice and they did a great job on the new vessel id #s too. best part was that we didnt have to pay
for all the new requirements.

From the looks of the stuff in the picture, I am going to guess it is a passive RFID tag. They can put RFID tags in something the size of a grain of rice. It derives power when it is put in a electro magnetic field. The tag draws power from the field, energizing the circuits in the tag. The tag then sends the information encoded in the tag's memory. This type of RFID tag only transmits a very short distance (inches maybe a foot if the reader has a large antenna) RFID tags are used for everything from tracking animals to inventory management and offer a cheap solution for object identification.

Hey Kelly, I'm down in Loreto and they are installing those gismos in all the pangas here as well. Loreto fishing is slow, some dorado and small yellows. However, we trailering are boats over to Mag Bay and kicking ass on yellowfin 20 to 40 lbs. (all you want)!
