The way I read is that the Mexico aduana do not want anyone making cell or CB radio calls while driving through or around border crossings, and that the crack down started at Matamoros, (Texas).
I agree that its been against the law for drivers to to so in the past for traffic safety, but this is aimed at steming comunications between offenders wanting to traffic arms, drugs and money, and from what I interpret, passangers cannot make calls either.

Xactley................WTF is the problem.
I applaud that the Mexican Govt is trying to stem the flow of weapons.
If you have a reason to fear being stopped... don't go.
As has been said.................It won't deter my love for the people and the land in Baja...

Sorry for the rant. Nothing any of them can do will dim my love of Baja and the great people I have met thru the years down there. | Nawwwwwwwww, man. you're doin it all wrong, ya gotta go through on the far left side, then when you get the red light, pull over to the left. There they don't have the regular "bright" guys doin the search, they have a flunky, then when he looks inside the bed and he says no bueno, palm him a 10 or 20, "adios y gracias", oh..... an stay on HWY 1, don't get off, the TJ police don't have juisdiction on that, if they do pull ya over, tell to call their CHP. They'll usually just move on.

So when a Mexican is caught driving across the border on a cell phone, do you really think he is going to pay a years wage for that tix. Give me a Flippin break. They need to start concentrating on the shit happening between the cartels then a gringo on a cell phone....... But you can now have dope and it is ok cuz as long as it is for personel use its ok.... I love mexico but they have some stupid ass laws.....They say the personal use dope is to stop corruption among the authorities. I can see the cell phone extortion getting way out of hand.....

Hey Doug; I got a heads up that going south is not as easy as it used to be. Mex Customs is cracking down on what you can bring. The list of items allowed is short and archiac.
Only 4 fishing rods!!!!
Well I'm smuggling today .

They have all kinds of stupid laws like wear a helmet when on a motorcycle, don't throw trash, no peeing in public, no drinking and driving and don't fillet fish on the water... They may not always be enforced but can be at anytime. I find that there is more enforcement around Christmas time...
Thanks for the heads up Doug...

However this does look good on paper to make sure the cartels still get millions of US drug prevention monies.

Glad I already have everything I need stashed in the house. Do these rules apply to Mexican citizens?

I love these "men" crying about not being able to talk about their Salon appointment with their best girlfriend on their cell when going through customs at the border .
As ineffective as it might really be they are trying to prevent the coordination efforts of gun smugglers bringing weapons into Mexico.
Grow up, shut up and drive.
