1st East Coast fish

I had a few spare hours during a business trip to Ocean City, Maryland and was able to fish a bit. As soon as I develop the pics I will post them. I caught a bluefish and took a pic with the Bloodydecks.com logo.

ahhhhh.....

I used to burn those snapper blues up in Ocean City when I lived back there. They'd be thick on top chasing menhaden or bunkers just off of the coast almost every day during the summer-----usually mixed in with stripers (what we'd call rockfish back there).
Can't wait to see the pic!

Jason, it's sort of a blue-gray looking Yellowtail.... Great on the grill... ummmmm, blackened bluefish...

I thought it was fun catching the bait for them. You'd look for what essentially looked like a prickly kelp paddy. It was actually the tails of the manhaden that were suspended there in a school. You then proceedd to throw a weighted treble hook into the middle and give it a yank, hopefully snagging the bait. Then all you do is find a school of manhaden that is breaking water, and that's usually because the Bluefich are hitting them from below. Throw you're bait into the fray, and off you go. Real cool fishing.....

Glad you got one Basil!!!

Blue fish

OMG! I grew up catching bluefish in Long Island Sound! We'd fill garbage can's full of them...bunker dunkin' like you did. Before the bunker moved in and the shiners disapeared we'd follow the birds working the schools and cast surface plugs with coffee grinders and yank blues till your arms fell off! Too much fun!
