Colnett 1/18-19/09

Running all Saturday night on my friend Tony's boat, we arrived at our secret spot around 8 a.m. Sunday morning. We dropped lead for the rest of the day and did pretty well fishing between 40 and 60 fathoms, but it was only one here and a couple there. We called it a day and anchored up at Punta Colnett, had a great Chili dinner, watched a movie and hit the sack. Monday we got a leisurely start and went right back to the area we fished before, but something was different. The sea had glassed, there were bait balls erupting around us, whales and dolphin were jumping, bonita were boiling... It was like someone had rung the dinner bell, because everything was on the chew, even the bottom dwellers. We started getting hit on most every drop, bringing up quality vermillions, bocaccio and white fish. We had a fish on every hook on several pulls and it wasn't too long and we had caught our limits. I must say this was the best bottom fishing trip I have ever been lucky enough to have experienced, from the flat calm seas and beautiful weather to the awesome quality of fish we got into. Oh, and the guys I fish with are okay too... Here's a few pictures so no one calls bullshit...
