Gene Kira's "The Baja Catch" is a must read and great start. Also, I believe there's a newer book floating around, that provides a little more current info, but I cant remember the name of it. http://www.bajaquest.com/genekira/bajacatch.htm

Hey Duanediego...thnks for the reply! I should have mentioned in my original post that I have the baja catch and that is indeed the book that got me interested in baja many years ago.
Having said that, I am looking for a more modern book that might detail camp sites and best beaches to inhabit.
Thanks again, Zimm

Read Zach Thomas book (he is a BD member).
I dont have the book yet nor have read it, but Zack is a very well versed baja road tripper who writes some great articles. BajaTrailerBoating.com

the best book for exploreing baja hast to be the baja atlas large spring bound book(not in print anymore). i have used the crap out of this thing and is falling apart(kept together with duct tape)at the seems. you can still find them on e-bay once in a while or get the smaller version(not sure if still in print)that i allso have . if you find one you will be stoked.

| Baja Book Ditto on the spring bound Baja Book. I've had it for 15 years and mine is beginning to show wear also.
I now keep it in a bubble wrap large envelope. When I die I'll will it to whoever wants it; however I still use it frequently. |

That will extend it's life quite a while. There are certain types of plastic page protectors that preserve the paper too. You might want to check those out. I guess it depends on how important that atlas is.

It's not my favorite, but since you only have ten days to venture south, I would also suggest picking up the AAA book. It's got the basics that will come in handy for your trip. The larger atlas is cool for when you've got more time to explore off the beaten track. We've got a couple of them. It does't hurt to keep your eye open for one on Ebay.
Have fun.

Randy,
Been wondering for a while - how worthwhile is it to pick up this book? The only copies available are originals, and they go for a pretty penny.
