Cabo and Gordo Banks Trip 8/8 to 8/13

Had quite the interesting trip to cabo this past week. First day we get 9 tunas (1 45lber and the rest in the 15-25 lb range all under porpoises). We felt good. Second day, chopping as hell with the B team and didn't catch or see shit.

The next two days we went down to Gordo Banks Pangas and fished with Chame. First line in the water, sailfish on 20# line. I got it 50 feet from the boat and it sawed off. DAMN. Huge blister from that one. My buddy had three cracked ribs and gets hooked up to a big pargo or grouper. Can't handle it and it gets in the rocks and breaks off the line. Chame's getting pissed and the youngster. Caught bonita and some small Do Do's and then ended the day with one nice Do Do.

Last Day Chame hears from a buddy of big ass tuna around 200#'s 20 miles off San Jose so we go for it. Rough sees made it impossible to see any porpoises. So we start heading back. Get to a spot with about 2 hours left hoping for some Do Do or deep water grouper and come up with this bad boy. Made my trip. Chame knows his shit, just don't farm fish. He also has a lot of connections with other boats so he knows where the fish are being caught. Great trip.

Sweet, I went out with Chame's brother Jesus yesterday and today. Yesterday I fought a 80-lb sailfish on 20-lb for about a half hour before the line snapped boatside. Epic battle. Got some dodos, but I am really here for dogtooth. So today we made bonita then dropped on the banks for some pigs. I got my PB leopard grouper and a sick doggy. Wind was less this morning making for better presentations. Love it!

Chame is the man! Have him take you in his Toyota along the La Playita beach for Roosters.

That's funny. I caught up on a 70-80 lb sailfish on 20# with Chame as well. Got it about 50 feet off and it turned and sawed the line off. Wish we would have got into those large tuna. Nice fish.

The way we hooked on it was a bonita sent down 200 feet off a point. The fish bit and chame hit the gas. Then he swung for the fences on setting the hook. It slammed him on the back rail and then he handed it off to me. It kicked my ass. About brought me in the water 3 times. Cheers.
