it might work on honest cops but do you think an honest cop would be asking for a bribe? i agree with art that it might actually draw attention to you of the wrong kind.i had the sticker when i was driving to san felipe a few years ago but in this new environment i dont think id put something on my car that says'' look at me im a tourist'',but i guess our u.s. plates do that already.....

The apple with a bite out of it is used frequently on Government posters here in Mexico as an illustration of corruption. Maybe the U.S. should print one on the face of our tax forms!

Lorenzo- No need for anyone to try and print the sticker and that is a chickenshit way to go...I asked them for an additional sticker (smaller size) and they sent me two more no questions asked...Along with the $25 you also get a package of sorts including paperwork to report the name of the officer that is stopping you and important phone numbers for gringos to have...I was pulled over and I got the paperwork out of the glove box and began to write his name and description..He got fucking pissed when I tried to take a picture of him with my cell camera and he left...Not sure if I would do that again in todays Northern Baja situation..

By the way If your driving a 40K dollar truck, pulling a $40K boat, and have california plates how much attention do you think a sticker will draw???

If you cant afford a 40K rig pulling a 40K boat, maybe you should start printing stickers with pictures of apples and selling them to dumb americans for $25 a pop...

Thanks for the info. I personally applaud their efforts. I may visit their office downtown and donate for a sticker and get a business card.

I probably will not display it. I don't think mordida is a bad thing if I'm in the wrong. The cops in baja don't get paid enough as with most police officers world wide. I don't endorse search out the gringo and make false charges.

When I was first learning how to buy diesel and swing back to SY instead of Otay I broke the law. I whipped a bitch and went up a one way street the wrong way to get back to where I needed to go, I was also on the cell.

I did all this in plain sight of a TJ motorcycle cop.

He came flying up past me and turn to me stuck his finger at as too waggle it. I was dead wrong and looking at a big fine - maybe $500 USD. I raised my hands and put on my best "I'm a dumd fuck look" and he sped off.

So there ya have it, not all TJ cops are bad. What I'm trying to say is that I will leave the politics of Mexico to the Mexicans and not express a political statement on my truck.

I think having the information and a phone number is a good way to protect yourself.

I wouldn't sweat a sticker....... seriously. Too funny.
Do like the immigrants here do. Pretend to not speak spanish and say I will need to follow you to the station. There are easier fish to catch. It's just like the IRS, time vs. effort. If you sit there and look like a knucklehead, at which I am fairly practiced, and say I am an honest traveler to your country and I want to obey all the laws so I will follow you to the station you will be fine. If its a federal guy you are going to pay, they don't fuck around.

La Mordida

Guys -
The apple with a bite taken out signifies the bite that is applied by the crooks (pretending to be cops).

I think a lot has to do with your attitude and that can reflect on how the locals will view gringos sporting the sticker. A couple of weeks ago a caravan of gringos pulled into San Felipe, all of them had copies of that sticker printed out and plastered on 9 x 12 sheets of paper all over their cars. They were rude to the attendant at the hotel where they were checking in, told Darren to "Watch out for these Mexican's, they'll rip you off." They had the attitude the whole week that made the entire group of Apple sticker boys look like Ugly Americans. Sometimes I think that sticker gives some gringos a false sense of security and the permission to act as these men did. If I had one on my truck and were in the same place as these dudes, I would have been embarrased.
