| East Cape Advice
I am hoping to take a trip to Baja for the first time and am thinking about the East Cape. My greatest desire would be to catch striped marlin or sailfish and roosterfish. I love fishing variety so would also welcome every opportunity to catch dorado, wahoo, yellowfin, snapper, etc. Panga fishing would best fit my budget.
My most likely time frames this year would be late July or mid September. What would be the best time to go? What would be the best location to stay? Any other advice on a trip like this would be greatly appreciated.

Cant really go wrong that time of year as long as you dont mind the heat. I just fished with gordo banks in cabo and liked it there, Loreto is a good choice as is La paz. Take your pick.

i just came back a week ago and lots of stripped marlin and sails and big dodo's . if you are on a budget playa del sol is nice , queit and good food also last week we stayed at martin verdugos , clean rooms good a/c and the verdugos were on top of it . if it is just you or one other the super pangas are fully rigged and about a 150.00 cheaper than a crusier .

I'd advise you to come in July, as September is the peak of the hurricane season. Also, the roosters are better in July. You can get pangas through any of the hotels in the area. You might get more insight by reading other threads here about east cape and Los Barriles.

Thanks for the information. Researching these forums is what prompted me towards the possible East Cape trip. I am just trying to select an optimal time to go as well as place to stay. Is there much difference in the running time to the fishing grounds from any of the properties? Also, do any have better opportunities for fishing from the shore or snorkeling during the down time? Thanks again for the advice.
