San Jose del Cabo 'Gordo Banks Report' FISH REPORT

hey guys,

just a quick update and fish report as i have just returned from cabo fishing with gordo banks fleet in san jose del cabo.

first i would like to say eric brictson @ gordo banks is running a very sound operation and would advise anyone looking to fish there to fish with these guys! if u like to fish stand up west coast style and not drive around and just burn fuel , these are the guys that fish hard!

i arrived @ 5:45 am at the marina to meet a fellow bloody decker that i met here (mike andreyka) as we were going to share the panga and fish together for the day. we loaded are gear and to our surprise 2 guys show up to the slip in a small boat with live bait ready to go for us and we were off....!

the morning looked perfect conditions , our guide and captain jesus asked us what we like to fish for.... now that is a good sign in my book.... hmmmm...

so we said we like to fish the almighty GORDO BANKS and we were off only for a 20 min ride to the out side banks... might i add no GPS nor FISH FINDER , jesus put us right on the bank just with feeling and visual.

we got to the banks and there was life everywhere , whales , propose , birds and the time to time HUGE crashing fish!

it was about a 2 hour hunt until mike went for the sandwich trick and left his bait in the water on the clicker on and before he could get a bite of his meal , it was game on for him! i watch 2 huge fish come out of water and take his bait and run like they wanted his rod too!

after a fight on the trinadad 14 we had a nice Yellow Fin Tuna in the boat and the search was on for more breezing fish.

a short time later we spot another school of fish out of water and made the run to them , i got a bait in the water and it was on for me for a nice Yellowtail.

we ended the day for 1 Yellow Fin Tuna and 1 Yellowtail and really tried to work the marlin on the way back to the barn , they were everywhere on the way in...

so if anyone is headed to san jose del cabo and looking to fish pangas for the day , check out erics fleet.

thanks jesus for a great day fishing your waters!

Great report Jamie!! Had a blast fishing with you ,we'll do it again soon.

Sashimi looks great, did the same at my the hotel sushi bar with the toro and some seared ahi steaks in the room AWESOME!!!

Those waters near san jose are definetly fishy and if we would of had the right bait (macks) we would of killed it But overall it was a great day on the water and I will second your recomendation with Gordo banks.

It was a smooth deal from the get go, with victoria in the office and eric shooting back emails almost as fast as you send them .

Skipper was on time and hard working doing all he could do to put us on the fish, I still cant believe how nice that new marina and fish cleaning area is.

Really a bummer about what is going on down there right now with the sieners, those fish have zero chance of making it up to our waters much less the rest of baja or the sea of cortez.

They pangera told us there were lots of small yellowfin last week but after the sieners ran trough they were all gone.

Thanks again for fishing with me as it worked out great for both of us. Later , Mike

That's an "A" for food presentation, yum yum! Must of been special if one fish each made it a good trip.

One quality yellowfin and a quality yellowtail, that would make a stellar day locally . He forgot to mention the hammerhead shark that got the blood pumping early.

I guess what made the day was good boat, good skipper and good company plus the constant spotting of HUGE boils everywhere! Those fish down theere are as spoiled as the people who get to fish it everyday ,we needed the RIGHT bait. And the sardinas must not of been the "candy" of the day.
