| Need Feedback on Planning Fly-in Fishing Package to Bahia Asuncion
An amigo of ours has a new company Cedros Outdoor Adventures that is specializing in fly-in fishing packages to Cedros & Natividad. Jose Angel Pacheco is a top notch guy...speaks fluent english, very professional, smart mexican biologist I had the pleasure of working with over the years. We really like his new company and ideas about helping out the local fishermen and restaurants etc. Check out their website cedrosoutdooradventures.com are working on developing a summer and fall package into Asuncion and we are wondering what kind of package to offer....4 or 5 days...fish 2 or 3 days and what dates to offer...mid week, or say thursday-sunday to be back at work on Monday? If you are spending money to fly in, would you prefer 5 days or are 4 day trips easier to book off work? We are trying to get a feel for what clients prefer. The packages include accomodation in a comfortable house, all meals, fishing, and transport...a van ride from San Diego, plane from Ensenada to here and back to SD. We are really excited about this new venture and think it will work out great as it's such a pain to drive here.

These trips will be unique...different from the big tour boats..very personalized service...panga fishing with local fishermen and eating local fresh seafood....real Mexican style hospitality for sure. I like the small groups...5 minimum and 13 maximum and the offer of free ride to the guy who can get a bunch of his buddies together is SWEEEEET!

A good idea for the non-Baja-nomads. Just to compare costs. To drive down to that same area, Cedros, Asuncion,LaBocana and Abreojos is 5 days travel, 3 days fishing panga, hotel, gas food and insurance is about $125 per day per person. Total cost. So if a 3 day trip to any of these same areas can come in around $1000 it could be well worth it.

That's what I thought...going by the old saying "Time is money", this package should work great...saves the time, hassle, risks of driving...you get here rested and ready to party...er...I mean fish! So perhaps a four day package is enough then?

Thanks Shari and Juan. I took your advise.
BTW. Can you offer advise about tackle to bring? I am limited to 50# total. I am not an elaborate tackle invester. I am thinking jigging rig for bottom and a spinning setup for tossing plugs. Their webpage says no fishing tackle provided so im guessing no live bait? Im also guessing the largest probable encounter might be a 50-60 pounder?

It would be best to contact the outfit you are going out with as they can advise you as to what you will be fishing for on what dates...they use different color rapallas at different times depending on the bait fish and so each guide has their personal preferred lures. Look forward to hearing how your trip goes.

Well, we just welcomed our first bloodydeck honcho...yep...Surfdoc is loose on the streets of Asuncion and gaining fame by the moment handing out Bloodydeck stickers, gorfing abalone, hot-dogs and tortas....washing them down with ballenas...terrorizing the chicas...making the local fishermens eyes glaze over when he shows them his tackle...quite a sight indeed.

Tell Stan that his Darkside brothers wish him a good time. Let him know that Duke is going to be down at his boat in Purto Salinas the next two weekends and to stop in if that matches up with his return schedule.
