I was reluctant to grease and did 1/2 of my reels and tested them. Now all of my drags are greased.

Nope. Avet has stated that it will void the warranty. I'm sure if you do send it in for work that it will come back dry.
Now before anyone gets butt hurt, this has been hashed out in previous posts so go find them.
I've never had a problem with the dry drags.

| Yup, it's a personal choice. I do all of my own service work so warranty is not an issue. If you want to remove the grease a simple cleaning with brake cleaner does the job.

Grease, Grease and Grease!
You can use Cal's grease or if you like to pay to much for stuff you can use Shitmano.
Read some of the tutorials if you are unsure how to do it.

Do you believe that the grease increases performance and/or durability of the drag washers themselves? Or is it just a precaution against salt water intrusion?

Saltwater, I didn't notice much difference in drag performance between greased and ungreased.

It is more of a percaution to help deter salt intrusion in the drag system. But if you were to properly maintain your reels it would be of no concern.
