Re: Spectra to reel

Just put a 3 inch strip of electrical tape around center of spool, spectra around spool twice, and tie your san diego knot, 6 turns. Spit on it, and pull down tight, main and tag end, trim tag, and you're done, no slip, no turning on spool.

Re: Spectra to reel

They now provide a single side stick foam tape. It is awesome. The braid cinches down and won't rotate on the spool.

Re: Spectra to reel

What the other two posters said is true and very important. The spectra is so soft and slippery that if you dont put down some foam tape or equivalent, your wad of spectra could spin on the spool, if that happens the line is toast for the trip. It will then need to be stripped (on a spare spool if possible) and reloaded properly onto the reel. Dont skip this step, it could screw up a trip.
