Avet freespool??

I have a new Avet LX single speed reel. Heading out tomorrow on a 2.5 dayer. I notice the reel has two different free spool settings. What's the difference in them? What would you suggest for my trip, the farthest down setting or the next one up.

Re: Avet freespool??

The second setting is supposed to be for flylining your bait. Personally, I never use it....only use the freespool setting and thumb pressure to flyline.

I'll see you tomorrow with my Avet arsenal in hand. I'm on the Tuna Tango trip!!

Re: Avet freespool??

Stan, thanks for the Avet info. So then, I'll keep flylining as usaul and skip that setting. Can't wait till tomorrow. It looks like we will catch a little of everything! The tails and albies are nice size too. I'll be in the lot about 3pm tomorrow, the carne asada BBQ will be tasty!

Re: Avet freespool??

I use the second setting to set freespool resistance for casting (I suck so I need a little adjustment - nothing worse then a nest as your shit gets inhaled by a nice yeller - zing!) and use the first setting like Stan said.

Re: Avet freespool??

I also use the second setting to cast when I have to cast small sardines and anchovies. As soon as the bait hits the water, I change to the first setting so the baits can swim out freely. Never had a nest ever since I use this technique(?)
