what is the best way to spool this reel, i was thinking 50lb spectra and use 30lb p-line for the top......

I have a MXJ that I spooled with 300yds of 50 pound spectra and a 100 yard top shot of 20 pound mono

i just picked up a mxl 2 speed at the FHLB show spooled it up with 270 yds of 65lb spectra with a 150 yds onf 30 lb p line feels great cant wait to break it in proper.

15-25lb is a good use of an SX.

30 is a good place for the MX.

65lb on a MXL? What lb. spectra are you boys putting on your LX and JXs?

As mentioned above, MXL, 300yd 50# spectra with 30# topshot.

JX/LX, 65# spectra with 40# and 50# topshots. I am goin' to add 60# JB hollow on my LX's to fill the spool completely full for our all depth halibut season. After 'but season, leave just enough hollow to splice in long topshots for albies on the troll this summer.
