Re: Avet's new reel "Hoo40

Actually it was earlier than that. When I first heard about it, I ordered a custom wrapped chaos rod in silver thread to match it. Expectation was rod would be received about the time the reel was supposed to come out. Don't remember exactly, but I received the rod around September. I'm really disappointed, and if the 2spd Accurates look good (665 when it comes out), I may go that route.

If any one is deserving a free reel, it's you Bill. 20k members and very few that actually keep the place rocking. They should hand you one as you walk up!

I would just be happy for someone to confirm it really exists. I suspect not, or we would have heard about it by now. Its so hyped already, if its not 16 oz, 50# drag and 600yd capacity I will probably be disappointed.

Relax Nancy. It exists and is being shown for the first time at the Fred Hall show.

Just keep yourself set-up for disappointment, umkay?

Re: Avet's new reel "Hoo40

Just got back from FHS Long Beach. Played with the new HOO. I liked it. Just a bit larger than my JX 6/3, has the new rubberized handle, harness lugs, and my favorite part: it's silent. Looking forward to getting one.

Didn't take pics, but you can go and see for yourself and get your own impression of the reel. Plus, the one that they brought to the show wasn't laser etched yet. It was naked.

Re: Avet's new reel "Hoo40

Just like Cast Gold said, not even laser etched. Spoke with Harry and he said that they should be out next week going for around $409.99. The reel will put out 27-28 pounds of drag. It is an awesome reel for sure!

As for the Avet 80. According to Harry, they were waiting for one part to be either made or remade and the delay was for almost a year. They are just sitting at their plant.
