I've used 50#mono on my LX 2 speed and it's not a problem It's spooled with 85# spectra and it's got a 100 ft topshot of 50# mono.

My JX's and LX does 50 well.
The EX and 113 are close to the same size but the EX is heavier.

Gotta agree with Raymond and the Dog salmon. I fished 50# on my JX no problem. EX would be fine too, but maybe a little overkill and alot heavier to stand with at the rail all day depending on how and where you will be fishing.

I use my EX for 60-80 mono and it's backed with 300 yrds of 130# hollow spectra. Would not want to use my EX all day with 50#, JUST WAY TO HEAVY. JX/LX backed with spectra and you can wind away all day on those reels without any problems

| Re: best 50# avet L-a-F,
Not many know this.
R-R,
By "playing" and adding a few parts the EX4/0 can get close to 30lb at strike with an acceptable load on the handle, a little resistance at full but not much. Right now my 4/0 N is set at 32lb on strike and around 40lb full. I'd still recomend using the EX30 for 80lb.

Keta, can you elaborate a little more on "playing" and adding a few parts for the EX 4/0. What would need to be done. This sounds interesting.

JX or LX will fish 50# very well, just need to decide how much line you need. I fish 50# topshots on my LX's and 40# on my JX's, but can bump up to 50# if needed.
Raymond, here is the start of the EX stuff. Lee has done some more tinkering. http://www.bloodydecks.com/forums/av...ut-4-02-a.html |

I did what Alan sugested plus a new drag cam. I also put EX 50 springs and e clips on the drag plate to hold it in place better than the factory parts.
Kurt, I got the tools today, thanks.

If the Avet HOO-X ever gets finished it could be an absolutely killer 50# reel. It will be a Pro series reel available in single and two speed. If you can wait another month or two you might want to hold off and take a look at it.. More info here: Avet HOO-X Avet,Everol,Tsunami,Avet EXW50 QUAD,MX,AVET Reels Imagine a 2 speed TN-40 with 26-27# of drag...
