Actually the rod was a Cape Fear and we have landed multiple fish over 500 pounds with it. I did not use the Penn in the Show. One of the eyes was ripped off of it during a Goliath Fight. As for belts it is impossible to use them in this type of fight. Since the fish can't take drag, you have to use all of your upper body to fight them with a belt. We just don't have enough leverage. That is why you see me get so low. If I diddn't, over the side I would go. Thanks for watching fellas. Just trying to lighten up your week with some entertainment.

Damn, looks like fun and congrats on your PB goliath. You had me cracking up, screaming like a girl and all but I'm sure I'd be screaming the same way if I saw that sucker hit my bait!!! As for the leverage, I'd go with a 2' shorter, stiffer rod and also shorten the rear butt section . As mentioned before, shoe's would help too . Thanks for sharing the video , it was classic!!!.

Epic battle for real brother. If those Grouper were built like tuna, you'd be toast fishing like that. Thankfully they are not built for speed, but they're size alone is quite impressive.
How many rods/reels have been broken fishing for those beasts?
Also how many times have you been pulled in, or had your equipment pulled in?

Usually we don't go without a spot but sometimes you have a deadline to meet so the job must be done one way or another. As for the Balls they ar fine. The rod laid diagonally underneath either the right or left butt cheek. Now that part is still bruised up. As for comparing them with a Tuna, they are much more powerful due to the physics of the sheer size of their fins. They can push a whole bunch of water with just one swipe of their fins. The Tuna have a long way to run in the deep waters you guys fish so it makes it more of an epic endurance battle as you all well know. Goliath fishing is like going for your max in the weight room. You give it all you got and they do to. Then you both suck some air/water. Thanks for watching guys. I try to be the entertaining fishing show host.
Regards,
Capt Ben
