That ain't gonna happen. | By the way... Have you ever tried calling AVET and asking for the correct part??? You know... The foot for the 5/0 to put on your 4/0... The one that will solve your problem, at least the one with your reel... The one you should have asked for in the first place...

Hey Pimp fish dad..........did you even read my original post or are you just another "ventilator"?
I'm supposed to ask for a 5/0 foot for a 4/0 reel?
Sure everyone knows that................
How come Avet can't figure that one out? and put it in the box?
When you call they act like this is all new to them and then act like they are doing you a favor fixing their f#%k up!

The reel is a 4/0 designed to do 60lb, if you wanted a 30 you should have bought a 30. When I had the same problem you are having I called and asked to speak to a tech. After explaining my problem to the tech they told me they had a larger base and it would be shipped. Nothing was said about a 5/0 base, just a larger one. Since then I've put the original base back on the reel. The receptionist is not the person that knows what you are asking about. If you would have posted a "WTF" here several of us would have told you what you needed to do to get your reel working with your rod.
BTW, Nice fish on your avatar, what is it, a cobia?

I didn't know that about the 5/0 foot... I had to ask someone who knew, which IMHO is what you should have done, ask someone who knew...If they sent you anything for FREE, they are doing you a big favor... I ordered mine and it cost me $30... That is the cost of fishing these things at their max capacity... #80 line, #80 reel foot, + $30 for an upgraded reel... And if you want two feet in every box, be prepared to pay another $20 to $30 per reel... Those things aren't free...

Then tell Avet to put the CORRECT foot on it to start with!
Quit being an apologist for them, they KNOW they have a problem but will not fix it!

Avet has "fixed" the 4/0, it's being discontinued. It was designed for 60lb max and the base supplied was for the smaller reel seat. Another "fix" would be purchasing the right reel, the PRO EX30, if you still are interested in Avets.
BTW, I got my base for free, have you ever heard this from the other reel manufactures? If it will make you happy, I'll send you mine and I'll pay for the shipping. The larger base is gathering dust in my parts box now that I have a EX30 to do 80lb with. PM me a shipping address and the base is yours. Is the fish in your avatar a cobia? If so, it's a fish I haven't seen and it's on the list of our target species for next month.

Thanks,
Yep the fish is a Cobia 62.5 lb caught on a piece of Menhaden. The season here is June-Aug.
Around here to Cobia fish you need Sunscreen, Gallons of drinking water, Shade on the boat and Patience to wade thru the Cownosed Rays that swim with the Cobia

This thread is killing me. Are there any other reels that are over engineered (yes, I know, Accurate) they can fish many line classes above a reel of their size, AND offer a different size seat to do so? If they were sold with the big seat someone would bitch about not being able to fish them on a 30-50lb stick. The new 2speed Accurate is begging for a custom stick with the correct size seat. That things a monster.

Again, stop making excuses for Avet. They are a "good" product but have some quality control issues to work out before they become a "great" reel.
