My big Avets? THEY SUCK! I take them out all the time and don't katch chit!
I loan them out? Fish Kill'n mofo's. Get'em back? No Bueno por chit! Put someone else on the boat and say, "First fish is yours." Bingo, right back to pheesh kill'n mofo's. I'll be taking them on the 8 day just to insure all others catch pheesh.
You guys think maybe Ali is in shipping at Avet and put the curse on my gear?

I think that I have something like 12 Avets from SX-SDS never had any problems with mounting any of them. I do think they offer a larger foot for the SX, I presume that it enables the reel to be to mounted on a larger rod in order to take advatage of its small size and large drag capacity. I have yet to require any servive from AVET, in my opinion that speaks for itself.

Avet has some quality and engineering problems to overcome and this thread just shows that. Why in the hell all you Avet fags continually come up with excuses to back them makes me crack up.

Hey Joe, fuck off.
Do you know anywhere where people discuss the problems that Shamano and Penn reels have? They have issues too. On my LR trips (not enough of them but I did manage to land 5 cows with my "piece of shit" Avet SDS) I have NEVER seen an Avet fail but I've seen Shimano (too many) and the other "A" brand (1) reels do so. Shit happens with the best equiptment.
How many 4/0 reels do you have that can put out close to 50lbs on full, after a bit of "tinkering". I have 2 of them! Hoza bout Avets out of box freespool? Unbelievable!!!
Now go back to playing with yer Skeeter or pulling bass out of the hydrilla.

Get a clue dude
I've owned,, I mean still own Penn (too many to count, since the early 70's), Daiwa (never bothered to count, since the mid 70's), Shimano ( a butt load, 80's and up), Quantum (4 or 5), Accucrap (one,90's), Zebco ( I'm embarrased), Avet's since 2005 or so, and some others I can't or won't recall.
Avet's are the new/er kid on the block and doing extremely well for many. I can rig my boat with all Avets and not be needing anything. Maybe a 15lb rig since the SX seems to loaf along with even 25lb. Pretty good considering a few years ago it would be a good "size" reel for 12lb.
If you have thin skin, you came to the wrong board.
5 posts and all are anti-Avet? Why? I've had nothing but bad luck with my Accucrap but still recognize it as a great reel. Just bad luck and I only have one. I'd still buy from them if I couldn't get two Avets for near the same price.

We back it up because the gear and the service treats us well. I fish it, it brings up fish... and the same for everyone else here. All reels have problems... unfortunately if I encounter one.... they fix it faster than Shitmano answers their phone.
FAGS... is that what we are? I can act exactly like your age too. "Nananeebooboo... what bad things you say to us goes right back and sticks to you "
Sad to see this site go and become like "The Hell Truth" forum. Every simple question or opinion gets flamed on the second post.... worst than kids .

This kind of atitude bothers me. We are big boys here and we do disguss the problems we do have with the fine products that Avet builds. Sometimes things go wrong, the same can be said about the other high quality reels, and we will disguss the problems here. Where do you see this happening with reels manufactured by other companies? Several of us are tinkerers and play with our Avets to get better preformance out of our reels. This can cause problems too but a call to Avet usualy fixes them. Avet customer service has ALWAYS been extremely helpful.
Do those who bash Avet reels have such small cranks (can an acorn even be called a crank?) that they feel they must bad mouth a product they don't own?
I to own many reels from several manufactures, no Accurats though and I wouldn't have an Okuma on my boat, and I like them all. Some have more issues than others, like all of the "extra" parts in a Shimano, but they are all well built reels. I'll try to dig up my photos of dead Shimano reels and post them. These reels "died" due to their owners expecting too much from them but they should NEVER blow apart like these two reels did. I will not blame Shamano for this though, shit happens!

This shouldnt be a problem. Ive used the 4/0 with Aftco's largest stant up bent butt and it worked fine. You have to make sure the reel is centered then tighten it up, put the clamp on. That reels not going anywhere.
....It fits great in the #2 size seat, I highly doubt the 4/0 was designed to be used with aluminum butts.
