Dark Blue Avet SX on a custom made rod by my father Line - 25lb. Soft Steel
12/03/06

Fishing report: my dad along with myself and his buddy Phil are from new york and love fall bass fishing. We have a 23ft Sailfish center console as our boat. For the past 2 years we have been going on the last trip of the year out at montauk with a captain that we know well. Went out that day with the ocean as flat as could be. Loaded up with about 40 herring and bottom fished for Stripers. The one that is shown in the pictures above was about 32 pounds. It was the biggest of the day with most of the fish ranging from 18-26 pounds. We had just set up a new drift and i had just let my line down when bammmm!! my line peels off to the races. The avet reels are so nice and they handle so well that i was able to subdue the fish in around 15 minutes. The weather was so beautiful and we caught a lot of quality fish so we had a great day on the water for december.

Aboard the Q105 on 12-8-06 around Mag Bay.
Avet 50W with 80 lb P line over 150 lb spectra, on a CalStar 6455XXH

Fish was caught mid-morning after one cow was already on board. I was fly lining a mackeral using a 10/0 J style hook. Fish was landed in 20 minutes and ended up going 235.8 lbs. The Avet 50W was straight out of the box and worked great. Thanks!

This is my entry for the month of December.

Format: Microsoft office picture manager
Name: Eddie Gould
Location: Alijos Rocks
Gear: Reel, Avet L/X 6/3, 65# Spectra backing, 40# B.G Top shot.
Rod: Calstar 700 M
Date: October 17, 2006 ( I just got the pictures from my buddy today and not even sure if it is eligable for this months photo contest? But?)

I was fishing aboard the Independence on my annual 10 day adventure. After arriving at the rocks I was full of anticipation in getting a bait in the water and hooking that first fiesty tuna of the trip. Never having fished an Avet reel before I was eager to see just what this little piece of art could do. I baited her up and easily casted a lively sardine into the corner with my new Avet L/X 6/3 loaded with 40 # B.G. and in the chum line. Within a few minutes I was bit and it was game on. I put the reel in gear, wound down on it and impailed the hook in the fishes mouth. Weaving my way in, out, and through the traffic of rods, parked bodies on the rail and a crossed line or two I was in the clear and able to really get a chance to feel this reel at work. It was effortless. The reel is like a wench, I was blown away by its performance and the drags were as smooth as a baby's butt. Within 10 minutes or so I had my first tuna of the trip at gaff and on the deck. At the dock it weighed in at 86.6#'s
Because of my experience I have become a true Avet fan and purchased several more. Keep up the good work.

December '06 Avet Contest-abby_dorado_1.jpg

Fish: 60lb Dorado
Date Caught: 12/19/06
Location: El Banco, PV
Bait: Mackerel (green back from Mag Bay)
Hook: 8/0 Owner Circle
Angler: Abby
Equipment: Silver EXW 50/2 on a Yo's custom wrapped Calstar 7460H
Boat: "Conquistador", JT's new 40' Cabo Express
Captain: The Infamous JT

December '06 Avet Contest-abby_dorado__2.jpg

Abby whipped this monster into submission in record time (5 minutes) using my EXW 50/2 and her brute strength. This was Abby's FIRST dorado (not bad for her first one, huh?) and the FIRST fish that hit the deck of JT's new 40' Cabo Express, the "Conquistador". This fish was taken without a harness, under some pretty harsh conditions (8 ft swells with wind gusts up to 40mph). Congrats Abby!
