Location: El Banco, Jalisco, Mexico
Gear: Avet 50w, 200lb flouro leader, 100lb mono/ 200lb dacron backing

Story: This fish was caught on a smaller live skip jack. The fish didn't feel big at first but then started taking some very long, fast runs. Once the fish settled down I increased the drag to the point where the mono sounded like guitar strings when the line came off the reel. The fight lasted almost two hours. The fish was still very green at the gaff making it an interesting couple of seconds. This fish weighed in at 327, making it a life time achievement for me.

Even though it did many airials I do believe this is a perfect live bait striper set up as it took me close to 20 min.(LOTS OF FUN)***** Got hitched 11/4 really nice catch!!**** On 11/6 Rude Baby super panga (26'w/150 Yamaha) mashed out got macks, sardinas, then hung huge humbolt squid 40#s and up for tuna bait. Got to the spot(Tuna Hole) before most and if they didnt have squid they wouldn't get bit by tunas. We did chunky strips of calimari got us 7 nice Yellow Fin Tuna up to 30#(pics to come) Dad left the camera to ensure we got fish, my buddy rooster was on another panga and snaped a couple shots that I will post later. 11/8 Rude Baby again a little slower had difficulty finding the squid. glassy conditions helped for the late start. I got 3 nice Yellow Fin Tuna and bout 8 or so triggers who like squid strips also. Here's some pics of the first day marlin where all CPR ed.

My wife and I fished on Erics' boats out of Gordo Banks Pangas. Took out the Lupita with Manuel as our Captain. Set out for Gordos where we had heard of some nicer grade Yellow Fin Tuna. My first bait in the water I instantly hooked up, and I knew this was the right kind. First run almost spooled me, but I was able to get some line back. As this was going on my wifes bait get nailed by a sailfish on the JX. After about 45 minutes my wife gets her sail to the leader with a nice release. I put heavy drag pressure on this fish and the line and the gear held up. Took me over an hour and a half to get this fish in, my personal best. The tuna weighed 96.2# on Erics digital. I've always loved Avets and been impressed, but when the SX 2 speed came out I thought a 2 speed that small might be pointless. I went to Cabo to test it. Unbelievable!
Striped Bass caught in MTK NY on 11-18-06 about 15-20 lbs. I used an AVET MXL on a Causeway custom Calstar GF700XL, spooled with 30lb Power Pro and baited with live eels. This being our last Bass trip of the year, I was able to catch about ten fish on this combo that day. Enjoying my Avet reel on those nice bass was a great finish to our 06 season. Hope to post next season with the shark and tuna photos. Using my Avet Pro 30w

The first picture is of a 30 lb. yellow fin tuna that I caught will I was fishing the Big popper shown in the shot I was using my Avet JX two speed with 5olb Izor line and the new Big popper by zoom as the popper hit the water and I just moved it a twitch the water Exploded and the game was on. I continued to use the plug thought the trip and the fish loved it the trip was the 11/8 day abroad the Red Rooster 111 for most of the trip the fish were small in the 2olb range by I caught fish with this outfit all the time and had fish up to 4olb great trip, great reel and O yes the rod was 6470 seeker

Gear Used: LX 6:3, 50 lb Big Game, 80lb Spectra, Custom Calstar GFGR-765L, Burns Outfitters Pink Wahoo Bomb
Date: Monday, 11/6/06
This was my first long range trip, and my first ever Wahoo! I purchased an LX and a JX specifically for this trip.
While trolling and paddy hopping , the boat got 2 jig strike hook-ups. On the very first cast of my new LX, I cast a wahoo bomb out as far as I could while on the slide. I let it sink way out, and then started ripping it back as fast as possible. The fish picked it up after about 8 cranks. Art Taylor coached me the whole time, telling me to "wind thru the bite, wind, wind, wind, keep winding, follow the fish, shift into low, shift into high, keep winding....." right up to gaff.
This is the largest fish I've ever caught. While I took 7 rigs with me on this trip, I fished my new LX & JX almost exclusively.

After Hunter scored the big tuna on the Notorious the big boss Dave El Jefe came down to put a couple fat ones on the deck... A tough 220 was boated in 40 minutes but El Jefe's fish took 21/2 hours with a heavy line pinging 30 + pounds of drag... Good thing it was freshly repacked with new 100lb! And 130 IGFA class dacron... Anyway a nice double tunas of 220 and 277... The next day we pulled up a 120 and called it a day... We have had some incredable success with this reel including second place Dorado in the Puerto Vallarta Pez Vela tournament this month... The Avet reel has a serious home in the big game fishing world and has taken heavy chair tackle out of the equasion!
