What a kid trip June 21-24 -- on the way out RickO and his co charter master (his daugher) Robin start by giving away fishing rods by GRAFTECH, lures, hooks tee shirts by FISHTRAP,CATCHY TACKLE,HADDOCK,HAYABUSA, line YOZURI. and the kid JP first and second place AVET REELS and third place SMITTY BELT. day one grey light Elmer from LB lands the first albie. Just the start of a epic day, dads,moms,granddads and the crew spend the day keeping the kids glued to the rail with limits of albacore and 36 bluefin the action ended around 8:30ish. Day two indy report Good evening everyone, Today was another good day on the albacore and bluefin tuna although it was a slower than yesterday it was still plenty good for the group as we caught 45 bluefin and 54 albacore for the day. The fish are mostly in the 15 to 35 lb. class with a few bigger and a few smaller. The weather is still very nice with about 10 knots of wind and no sea state to speak of. We will return in the morning at 06:30 hrs. Take care, The Indy boys.
06-24-2006 - Hello, Today we returned from our Parent/Child Family 3-day trip. It could not have turned out better for everyone on the trip. The weather we had for the 2 days of fishing was as good as it gets and the fishing was great as well. We did have some luck for sure as we caught 213 albacore and 81 bluefin tuna and we just seemed to stay on the fish with every turn we made. The kids did a remarkable job of hooking and landing fish and the parents and grandparents were there throughout with help when they needed it. We would like to thank everyone on board, and send out a special thanks to Robyn Osaki our Jr. Charter Master, Rick Ozaki of West Coast Marketing for putting the trip together and all the giveaways, tackle, the and GAF-tech rods. Each youngster also received a trophy. The big fish weigh-in for the kids catagory was 1st place Jeanne Kelber of Carlsbad a 38.6 Albacore, 2nd place Riley Barilla of Santa Barbara a 37.4 Albacore and 3rd place Robyn Osaki a 36.6 albacore. In the adult category Mike Griffin of Capistrano Beach a 39.0 Albacore. Thanks for checking in, The Independence staff.
