Re: June '06 Avet Reels Contest

Richard 8, got a gold MJX 6/4 for xmas....25 lb topshot, on a sabre rod.

Yesterday, we were fishing 9.5 miles west of the 302 on a paddie loaded with yellers, when he hooked up GOOD. after bleeding and gilling the BLUEFIN weighed in at a hair over 25 lbs......reel worked great, I was using a the small one speed to catch my yellows. Richards final score 8 yellows, and the bluefin.

did you notice the BLOODY DECK ?

OK, for your competition here is the format;

He hooked it on the only paddy we saw all day, 3/0 Circle, with a lively dine....several blistering runs, the know from spectra to mono went through the guides way too many times...he is now hooked, he also caught 8-9 yellows on his favorite avet (because it is SMALL and 2 SPEED) he also has the SX (and kindly let me use it)....both in gold.

Report: This is a Goliath Grouper aka Jewfish. Well we where fishing off the beach over in Placida after we caught some tons of ladyfish and mackeral for about a hour and a half . So I used a Ladyfish for Bait and threw it out as far as I could. After about 25 minutes the fish finally hit. And the fight was on from there. It was fun and put up a huge fight. I was using 40 pound test so I did not horse him in I had wire leader that was only 3 feet long with a 8/0 circle hook so I knew I was alright with where it was hooked. Well after about 30 minutes I got this monster in . I had to have help with getting it up . Since it weighed so much this time I did not get the length and girth on the fish. But it was approx . 275 pounds .So this is my largest fish up to date with the Avet reel. And I will tell you there is a HUGE difference fighting a fish like this with an Avet reel I caught a 240 pounder 2 weeks previous with a Trinidad and it was alot harder work. I will tell you guys if you dont fish with Avet reels you are missing out. There is no better reel made in my opinion . I would love to win another Avet . I hope this fish is good enough for the win.
