hey,
I'll admit that having a 2 speed on a smaller reel, like the jx, is nice, but everyone and their mother seems to have an avet....theres 1 on my reasons, I just don't wanna be like everyone else. Another is the whole lever drag thing, I just can't get use to. Also I don't like the avet because, to me, the reel throws off the lighter rods for fishing plactics, they also have too heavy of a spool for fishing the regualr sized live baits, again that just me. They do have tons of power behind them and are great reels for fishing the yo-yo and dropper loops along with heavy baits. But, from seeing all the avets come in and out of the shop there is always something wrong with them, there is no such thing as just a clean and greese with avet, there is always a problem they have with some stupid thing. You can go for a year with pretty much any reel without getting them worked on as long as you clean it, but an Avet, if you wait a year, your not going to be payin the regular 25$ for the service, there is going to be somthing else wrong like a part needed to be ordered. My dad has 2 of them, an SX and JX 2 speed. He loves them and has killed pleanty of fish with them. We take great care of our reels, that are mainly daiwa. And the only problems we had with any of our reels came from the avets, somthing sticks or the handle seen to always tighten up and makes it impossible to turn. And it is a common thing too. I'll stick to my daiwas, avet hasn't shown me nothing I haven't already seem from a reel, personally I think they are a fad because they are eye catching, newer then the other reels, have a differnt look, are nice looking and work. Maybe in a few more years they will be even better, I know they have proven themselves, but all there are other reels that have been proving themselves for even longer. They are good reels just not the ones for me.
and I know theres gunna be some heads out there that are going to say "what are you talking about???" ya prolly a little meaner but that but hey whatever.
it's what I think, along with others...............

| I havent had this problem with my avets yet. They cast live baits very well. You also say they always have a stupid problem. I havent had a single problem with mine other than sticky drags which were a very easy fix. It took me like 2 seconds to fix that. If you can take care of a reel then you shouldnt have a problem with them. IMO you should learn to take care of them yourself. They are an easy fix considering they are so simple.

it's what I think, along with others............... | On second thought... You're right, Avet's suck! I'll take all of the Avet's off of the guys hands that come into your shop and I'll even pay for them.
I'm really happy that I got rid of all of mine to these board n00b's that are into the bling.
