Re: April '06 Avet Contest

While on a trip aboard Pesca Panama (4/1 - 4/7) we landed several large snapper, quickly learning the drags on the Avet's had what it takes to stop the larger fish. I took this photo of Tom Pak holding one of the many snapper that followed the poppers to the boat without committing. By the end of the trip we figured out that pitching a 6" Big Hammer swimbait to these followers was deadly.

Will put up a full report on the "Anywhere" board shortly.

Date: 4-24-2006
Story: Trolling at 100 feet down on a downrigger, this fish bit a purple haze hoochie behind an 11-inch red HotSpot flasher. I am posting this for Dave... he's a little shy. Biggest fish of the year for Dave and perhaps one of the biggest salmon caught this year in California (so far). Below is the fish with a 22-inch salmon in its mouth. We landed 2 salmon on a JX and the other 2 on the MXL.
