It's cool, just trying to help... IMHO, the bimini/albright is too bulky and too much of a pain in the ass to tie on that small of a rig. The uni-to-uni is a gravy knot to tie and takes much less time than the others. I have a number of reels with the bimini/albright and I know it works.

Use at least ten turns on the doubled spectra and when you cinch it up, make sure that it doesn't roll. On that small of a reel, you can use whatever spectra you want (IE you don't need hollow or whatever), so I scored some yellow power pro and slapped it on my SX. Shit, I hardly ever see the spectra on that reel.

Good for you in trying the Avet. If you get down to the show, stop by the BD booth and say hi. I'm there everyday.

Re: Which Avet?

Just wanted to throw in my support for the SX, and to add that I spooled both mine (well, the purple one is supposed to be for the gf) with a mono bottom shot under the spectra so that I'd know how close I'd be to getting spooled. I have yet to rely on that built in warning. I try to tie all connections at home and use the Albright because I can sit down and concentrate. If I wanna tie on the boat, I use uni-uni either doubled or single as it's easier for me.

I thought about getting the MX 2 speed, but decided on the JX 2 speed for the increased drag. I reckon the specs list the MX and the SX as having the same drag but different line capacity, so the JX made more sense for what I needed (trying to plant the seed for your next purchase).

Please post your first impression of the SX.

Re: Which Avet?

and about that mono/fluoro leader..... since you'll be fishing the yak, it appears, you won't want a 100yard leader, or even a 25yard. most guys keep it 3-5 feet cause if youre hung in kelp, you'll want it to start cutting right away not 75ft in.

on a boat it doesnt matter
