| What's new at Avet
This year the Fred Hall show was a great success. Many of you have ask me what's new for this year. Coming out this year, we are introducing our new 80 size reel. Also coming out is a larger two speed reel that is larger than the LX6/3. This reel will be about the same as a 500 Newell or Trinidad 40 and will have a larger single drag washer. (perfect for 50-60lb).
What's coming out very soon is a Hi-Speed 50W. The application on this reel is unreal. This reel was designed around kite fishing. As you know, when you get bit, you have to wind, wind, wind, until the line gets tight. With the high speed, you should get the slack out very fast and set the hook quick. Big jig fishing, chuck, ect., you can use this reel for these applications.
It you have any questions, please email me or post.
Ricko

Sounds good Rick...
Will the high speed 5/0 be able to be installed on an older 5/0?
Thanks,
Mark

Personally, I've been trying to convince Harry to make the 50 SDS come "standard" with high-speed. Installed 4:1 gears on my 50 SDS last year, and never encountered any application where high-speed was not a benifit!, kite, sardines, baloons, and heavy jigs. 50W is good, but 50 SDS has enough capacity for kite or anything else, and it's easier to fish on rail, with high speed retrieve on jigs, and it's just easier to use than a wide.
A 40 narrow size 2-speed will be the sweetest jig reel ever made, a larger diameter spool will give it 50 inches per crank on retrieve, larger drag should give you 20-25 pounds at strike, and "IF"it isn't "TOO WIDE", it will be easy to lay against your arm and crank VERY FAST! People will probably complain if it doesn't have "lugs" so they can use a harness, and fight 300 pound tuna, with 80# line!

Rick,
Is Avet going to go with a 80W first and then an 80N?

| level wind? thanks for the info!
It's been posted elsewhere that Avet plans "to come out with a level-wind (Calcutta 400 like) in midsummer."
Is this true?
Will it be a lever drag or star drag?
Narrow or wide?
Is the line guide wire like an Ambassadeur or a solid like a Calcutta?
Will the line guide disengage in free spool?
TIA

Thanks Rick. I might have to look into getting a hi speed 50W. I "need" a third 50 but was thinking another SDS. Oh well, I might just "need" four 50s.
