March '06 Avet Contest

Avet is supplying Bloodydecks 1 reel a month to give away.

This Month's Avet Reel is a JX 6/3

Rules of the contest...
Post pictures of a fish you caught this month After (3-1-06) using an Avet reel.

The reel has to be in the picture!!!!!!
Ali and I are the judges. We have final say.

So you know how we are judging. A 9lb sandbass will win over a 150-199lb Tuna. A 1000lb marlin will beat a 10lb calico bass... A 100lb Tarpon will beat a 50lb Amberjack...Clear picture with good lighting will beat a blurry picture with bad lighting and a bigger fish...Presentation is the key!, BD gear doesn't hurt

NO PHOTO TOUCH UP!

Format of posting your picture.

Re: March 06' Avet Contest

Tom Buckner(Tbuckshot) holds this 32# black drum (released) that Charlie Butler landed on his new Avet LX 6:1 reel on Saturday, March 11 (first day of spring break!). This reel and the travel rod were gifts to Charlie to use primarily for sailfishing in the ILTTA offshore tournaments. We were all excited that he got a chance to heat up the drags early. Charlie said that the drag was super smooth and had a wide range of drag settings. Charlie also liked the bait setting on the drag, as well as the detents for the setting stop at strike.

This was one of three black drum that Charlie landed (and released unharmed) that morning in the Upper Laguna Madre in Corpus Christi, Texas. The boat was a 15' waterline scooter with a 70 HP Nissan motor. As the boat has no gunnels, we often had wet feet due to the high winds (40 MPH) and occasional boat wake!

Re: March 06' Avet Contest

I was curious. When you guys judge the fish do you also base it on line class or is it just the rules you have posted? For example, if someone had a good clear picture of a 40# bluefin they caught on 20# would that beat a bluefin a little bit larger that was caught on 30#?

It all comes down to bribes.

Line class would matter along with the stuff above.
