| Avet jx 2-speed
ok so i'm having one of the best days ever. just got a jx 2-speed in dana point for 250 bucks never used loaded with spectra and 40lb mono for an early birthday gift(my mom also got a saltiga 30 for $150).
i have a single speed jx and single LX in my arsenal and the drags already seem brutally strong ( started to hurt my hand trying to pull line) since this is my first 2 speed, i was wondering when i would have to push it into 2-speed or at what point in the fight i would have to use it......just at the end?? just when it's hard to gain line?? some help would be much appreciated, i'm still smiling.

Tommy,
You got a great buy on a great reel.
You got it right - switch to low gear when the fish doesn't want to come home.
No need to struggle when you have a 2 speed.

That is a awesome buy on a 2 speed JX. You wont find a better deal anywhere else. Switch into low gear when you need to gain line basically. It will be a great reel for you.

yea i was suuuuuuper lucky to get the 2 reels, some guy dropped them off at the store the night before to put on consignment, we put the reels up on the front counter and kept looking around the store, the owner comes in to pick up all his reels because he didnt want to sell them anymore so i talked to him for a little and he ended up just sayin ' alright i guess i could sell just those two.
thanks for the replies guys
still happy about the buy-
----- whats the max this reel is capable of? |

A lot of guys are fishing 50 on them. Check past posts about how to check and change the washer setup. The older ones, the ones with the loud anti reverse, usually have the lighter setup. Someone (Art) correct me if I'm wrong. From what I'm learning, the newer ones are basically, internally the same other than how the washers are stacked.

I talked to the Avet rep for my store, Rick Ozaki, and he said hes caught yellowfin to 140#s on the JX 6/3 with 50#. The reel is really capable of bringing in some big fish.

Dayle;
Yah your right, I fish 40# with my JX. Just can't wait for the sx 2speed!!!
Better yet, a 3 speed reel. 6,4and 2:1 ratio. DAMN. You'd buy it Dayle.. I know you would.

Art, I'm done for this year.
The Hall show killed me. I'd still like the 30N but doubt it's going to happen. Overtime will tell. I'd still like the 2 MX 2speeds and after spooling up the MX with more 50lb Izor spectra than I care to comment on, I don't know where to go with this stuff. A LX is about all you need for any local fishing, including trolling for fairly large T-sharks. My 50's are a joke for the local stuff. I had one of the PV guys tell me the 30 is all you need down there. Spectra. Nuff said.
Man, , , I NEED to go fishing.
