New Avet 30 reel

Details here:

http://www.cabbagekeyrodandreel.com/AvetPro30.html

Man, this thing looks sweet. I'm more than a little bummed that the price increased $110 over the 4/02W but it looks like they learned alot from the 4/0 series and added quite a few upgrades.

About the only thing that I hate about the 4/02W is the clicker. The knob is small but that's no big deal and the self cancelling thing is cool but it's not nearly loud enough to hear over the roar of diesels when trolling. Putting the clicker on the right side of the 30 is a big break with 'tradition', however.

I can't decide whether I want to buy another 4/02 at the lower price or buy one of the new 30's...decisions, decisions.

Re: New Avet 30 reel

My 30 is in the mail. They've done a lot of testing on these reels, so I'd have to say go for the 30 if you're looking to fish over 60# since they're proven.

The 30 T-Rex comes out in a few months.

Noah's has them. Saw one on Friday. Feels about the same size as the 40 with some changes to the lever drag system, smaller preset drag knob and non disengaging clicker on the right side of the reel.

Re: New Avet 30 reel

i got one from noahs about a week ago, the only gripe i have is that the reel shoe is too short for aftco reel seats.

This has been an ongoing problem with them, I wish someone with connections could explain to them how to make this part correctly.

Re: New Avet 30 reel

I have called the factory several times on this issue. They want a sample??? I will be calling them again today, and hope to resolve this issue soon. The foot plates are to small for any reel seat larger than 24. It will be an easy fix for them once they see the need. These guys listen to their customers so anyone having this issue should call them directly. The more of you they hear from the faster they will make this improvement.

Re: New Avet 30 reel

I pointed this out to Sarkis when we met with them.

They are VERY responsive and we just need to show them the issue and they'll work on it.

These guys really do listen.
