Avet EXW rod mount

Just picked up a sweeeeet trolling stick (GUSA Beast) wrapped at Noah's today. Awesome job and a great price with a fast turn around time too. Thanks guys!

We went to mount the reel to the rod and sure enough the EXW rod mount is about a 1/4 inch too small for the trolling reel seat. Held it up to the SX and its the same freaking mount! Yes I do have the reel clamp and will be using it but would like the reel to sit in the seat too.

Has anyone had this problem and how have you resolved?

OK DE.. I'm trying to get a mental picture of what you discribing?? When you say small, are you talking about width, depth, or length of the rod mount?? Or... are you talking about something else??

What size reel seat? #24? I've warned Avet about this several times. They will send you another that's 1/2 inch longer, but it's a design flaw and it sucks.

Corey... Do as Art stated.... contact Avet and ask for a bigger reel seat for the EXW... remember to lube the threads and put on some BLUE loctite.
If ya need help, bring it to the shop and we can do it for ya..

Thanks for the tips guys! Fortunately they mount them to the reel with hex bolts so swapping it out won't be a problem.

AC, not sure on the size of the reel seat. I don't see any identifying numbers on it.

Paul, that's exactly what I was gonna do. Was thinking about putting a small layer of silicon down just to prevent any water from getting between the mount and the reel.

I'll be calling Avet Monday morning. See what kind of turn around time they have. Will post when I get it.

I got mine in two days, with some stickers to boot. The reel seats are so small. If you compare them to other reels, it's definitely a design flaw. Also, watch out for the spool locker. Something I just don't understand why it's necessary. My friends spool locker went south and he to send it in.
