Question AVET LX ROD CLAMP PROBLEM

Just got an Avet LX and was attempting to mount it to an 8'
deckhand handle style jig/live bait rod. Either the screws are not long enough or the rod is not big enough (I guess it is actually both) for the reel to tighten down to the rod. Emailed avet to see if they have longer screws but have not heard back and also thought about adding another layer of that deckhand wrap. Anyone had this problem before? Any suggestions/solutions will be appreciated.

I had that problem with my JX 6/3... I eneded up having a reel seat put on my 850H...

But before that I added 2 layers of shrink wrap to the cork. It worked.. and if I didn't put the reel seat on, I'm sure it would have sufficed.

1 layer of shrinkwrap just wasn't enough.. had to add the other one.

I have the same problem mounting my two Avet LX 6/3 reels on True-Line 4XC poles with a reel seat.

I called Avet today and lady said she never heard of this problem before and the engineers have gone home for the day.

She will check with the engineers for shorter studs or washers to correct the problem and mail them to me.

More later when I hear from her tomorrow

I called Avet to tell them I didn't like the length of my reel seat on the ex 4/0 narrow. They sent a longer one - no problem. I have heard people complain about reel clamps on cork tape rods and certain reel seats. I talked to the Avet guy at the Ho and they are trying to address each problem. I don't use cork anymore so it's not an issue for me. Keep us posted on your dealings with them. We want to know the good and the bad.

A layer of tightly wrapped small diameter (1/8") Tuna cord about 6" long over the cork tape and then a layer of shrink tube (I added some epoxy to the cord before I put on the shrink tube) that ought to build the diameter up.

I had to do this with a Seeker 196-7 so my Newell would mount securly.

I talked with the Avet engineer today and there are two answers:

1 - They have a shorter stud set. He only had one set in stock and is sending it to me.

2 - They have washers to place under the stud screw. He is sending me some.

I am pleased with their service.
