Surfdoc1,
I haven't had them out yet. Between chores, getting the pool ready for "swim days", lousy weather and the fish being somewhere else I just haven't been on the water.
You watch, when my new E-Tec 250 comes in and the boat is sidelined the fish will be jumping all over the smooth pond and sunny days. |

Just got my first two Avets (Turners Sale) and I had this problem with one. I used that black tape that has no adhesive and just built up the back. Time will tell how long it lasts. I have one reel taped to a rode (freshwater) that has lasted several years with the stuff.

I'm not sure if it's been posted before but you get at least 15-20 guys together, you can do a factory visit of their plant, I went on one last year, it's a very impressive operations. They make just about everything there, even the screws and only a few small stuff from an outside source.
It was cool to watch them CNC the main reel body. They are very receptive to your voice and concerns. You can even watch the assembly section inside the cages.
Bring your reels there, and they'll even service them for you. Great free raffle prizes (reels and rods), T-shirts, catalogs, etc. I've heard the last two tours, they still provide a nice lunch spread, eat a light breakfast.
Plus Harry keeps his boat inside the warehouse, that's a nice rig!! They're located in Chatsworth, CA (San Fernando Valley).

I'm in. I can seat 4-5 in my truck. 6 if two of them are my kids. My 50w two speed might come from them. I like the Diawa but the Avet being US made gives them the knod. How many reels would have have to buy to get the good guy, direct from the factory prices?

Call them directly to set a date and time, you can speak with the main man, Harry (owner) if he's there. Maybe set it up so that you get in earlier (10-11 a.m.), so that by the time, you're done you can also avoid the heavy traffic back.
But for me, to come up and down from the SD area, I usually take the 15 frwy-North, to the 210-West, 118-West and reversal on that, this route takes a bit longer 20-30 minutes out, and takes you around the outskirts of the main LA traffic.
Let him know you guys are from Bloodydecks.com (maybe pass him an honorary member T-shirt)

Having toured this factory first hand and after spending some good time getting to know Harry and Sarkis (owner and operators) let me be the first to tell you this is a top notch company and they are from the old school of business where the customer comes first and they truly care about the people who support them...old school family stuff that doesn't come along much anymore...
Avets are all you'll find on our boats now and a big part of that decesion came about because of what i saw and learned at the Avet factory...HIGHLY RECOMMENDED to anyone who wants to see where this side of the industry is going...

Thanks Az.monkey
If the trip is on a Friday we have three takers (1 San Diego, 2 Bonita). If not on friday one of the Bonitans cannot go.
Who's organizing the trip? Who's the "tour guide" or a "camp boss"?

Yea, I agree with Capt. Josh, even tho' Harry's a real busy guy there, he and Sarkis takes the time to seat or chat with you one on one to discuss your concerns or even share some new ideas.
Oh, they even had machinery that makes the nylon parts, sorry, it's not nylon and I forget what the actual material is, but Harry will correct you.
Thanks for reminding me, yes, there's this feeling of a family environment inside the warehouse/office.
I'm not a technical person, so those computerized gadgets reminds me of the futuristic stuff I saw years ago at Disneyland as a kid, lol (we're talking serious years ago).
