No... Buy the Avet... Buy American and support a good American company instead of a bunch or arrogant asshats...

I think Okuma is a better deal.

See this for a review:

http://www.bloodydecks.com/forums/fi...ca-review.html (Shimano Talica Review)

IMHO I think the Talica is a better reel than the Avet. I've fished both and the Talica is awesome.

i just got off the Q105 Rusty Hook 15 day trip. Alex Masumoto killed a whole bunch of good ones on the Shimano Talica including this one.

that said im sure a JX or LX could do the same thing. Like many have said they all work, and at these prices that damn well better.

I did get to hold and tinker with the Talica, and i was impressed by the fit and finish of the reel and watching Alex boat a bunch of hundred plus pounders on it, coupled with a long rod. He is a great bait fisherman.

i fish avets and shimanos. All my freshwater gear is shimano (mostly). Id consider the Talica, if price was an issue id feel good about the Avet. Buy both.

Still made from a machined casting, best case 13# at strike, 20# at full. Costs more, weighs more, inferior drag/shifting, and it's not a precision piece.
No contest.

I was wondering.. have you fished both reels to make your comparison? Are you comparing it to a raptor of similar size? I am not being critical I am just curious because I will soon be in the market for a 50-60# class reel.
HX Raptor.. Talica 12 or 16 ... Accurate 6500B. Have to weigh performance, maintenance and of course cost prior to making a decision. Unfortunately the HX Raptor has not been released so we can't come to any conclusions that it will not have any problems. I hope that it will not.
The Accurate, we all know how they are and the Shimano seems to have good reviews from those who are not biased. I think until someone can fish all of the reels of similar size side by side on an extended outing we cannot come to conclusions. Too many choices now days!

Why is it that SOME Accurate owners have to chime in with a smartass reply that adds nothing to the conversation but to simply stroke themselves?

Is your life so dull and uninteresting that you have to identify yourself with your GEAR?

Pitiful.

Seek help. It's just GEAR Idiot

Hey Yank N Crank is it dark with your head up your arse? You are just the type of Americans the world loves to hate... Grow up, or beter still stop etaing all the pies and slim down.
Avet make good gear, thats why they have a loyal following, Shimano make good gear thats why they have a loyal following, Accurates, Diawa, Pro gear... It all comes down to personnal preference,
Pro kevin If at all possible see if ya can borrow some of the reels ya interested in then you can make an informed decision.
