Finally sent a reel into Avet

After 6 years of using Avets, I finally sent one in I couldn't fix.

My first MXLsp2 has been my goto reel for 3 years and has caught 75% of my fish fron the yak and boats.

It fianlly developed a nothcy feel on one part of the gearing. I broke it down and cleaned it several times. I then used some credit I had with Avet and ordered a pinion gear. Still coudn't correct the problem. I was about to order the main gears, but then decided to just send it in and have them fix it.

I've been traveling a lot and plan on leaving in two weeks for 2 weeks of baja, so time was important. I got the reel back in 6 days. $35, smooth as butter.

Done thanks Avet.

Nice. Pretty much standard Avet support, they do TCOB. Did they say what they had to do to the reel?

They charged me the for a clean and lube and a couple of bearings. Maybe I'm getting old, but I know I serviced the bearings as I do with all of my avets. Since they went to the rubber plated bearings - it's very easy.

I just manually spooled that reel with 30# and the gearing's percision is so much nicer.

This 2speed is one of the originals models, has a stamped side plate. I converted the dog lever a few years ago.

I'm not looking a gift horse in the mouth.

ON a side note, I noticed Shimano has a line of small two speed reels. The shift button looks like the Avet style. This is why competition is good for the industry. Without competition, we'd all be fishing jigmasters.

Good to hear Art.
