AVET'S "ARE" THE REEL FOR LEFTHANDERS

There are very few good reels available for lefthanders but Avet makes all it's reels in a left handed version at no extra cost. Most other reel manafactures convert right to left and you end up with lever or free spool lever on other side of reel, and you need to pay the conversion price. So they are not tru left handed reels. I am very happy to have found the Avet left handed reels.

That's why Crank Sr. and I were drawn to them back in late 04.... You can buy a reel ready to go without having to pay extra or send it out to Cal for a conversion...

Although thanks to Avet, I get a lot of this question from deckhands "Brian, are you lefthanded?" when I have to hand them my rig. Still, I love Avet lefties -- have 4 of them already and probably will get another one for next year -- thinking of some sort of Raptor -- when they come out for us lefties. I just wish I could get em in different colors like the righthanded guys -- my MXL is gunmetal though which is different

I changed most of my reels to Avet about three years ago prior to that I had a strange group of converted Penn's and misc crap and now I'm very happy with my Lefty Avets. Danny

I recieved my first lefty Avet as a wedding gift. (yes, Bill and I were registered at Charkbait)
Mini two speed, MXL. Love it. Bill then got me the larger 4/0 EX for trolling, then he got me the small sx for lighter line.
I greatly appreciate how it is NOT a bass akwards regular reel, (accurate) as the freespool on the lever drag is forward, so when winding you can easily "bump" it into freespool.
No, these are true lefties and my "go to" reels. You can get a premium Penn Intl. which Bill bought me when we get to Panama, Penn 50, leftied ---Over $1000.00.
Avet lefties, out of the box. Good Stuff.

Is there any truth that one of the Avet owners is a lefty as well?

I don't have a lefty Avet but all my small Abu reels are lefties. For some reason I didn't find it strange to use because my first Avet, a JX was gift by my gurl. The addition went on and I'm with the righty Avets. If Avet does come out with their levelwind versions, I will get one for sure.

Next time I look for a new reel, I'll have to look to the Avets. I can use a right hander with no problem, but I just feel a little clumsy.
