hx sticky lo gear

so my brand new hx has a new problem...in low gear the handle is kinda sticky as you turn it, until pressure is put on the spool, then it feels fine. in hi gear it feels perfect. it never felt like this until recently even though it hasnt even been pulled on. can i fix this or do i have to travel to avet?

One trick that I have heard of the seems to fix a lot of the unusual problems is to burn the drag in a little by tying the line off to the bumper of a truck etc and make a couple of 100 yd runs to heat the drag up a little (be careful and don't over do the idea is to work the drag not see how much drag you can hold). I have never tried it but all of my Avets have worked fine out of the box. If you take it to Avet they will do a tear down and fix it for you, probably while you wait, and then explain what they found. You might even get a factory tour. Just noticed Scott posted before I did. Take him up on his offer.

For what it's worth, I've found all Avet reels to feel "sticky" in low gear with zero load. Nature of the beast, nothing to fix...
