which reel?

jx single speed 6.0 or mxl 2 speed?

i already have an sx (15-20) , saltiga 30 (30#) and a lx2 (40#).

i'm looking for an all around reel 25-40 (mainly for 30#) maybe although i only go on 2 day trips max and avg 1 day or overnighters. nothing longer anytime soon

i really wanted a jx2 but it's difficult to find a used deal on lefty

i found a lefty jx6.0 and a lefty mxl6/4. since i'm on a budget, i can only buy 1. every post i see here recommends 2 speeds from now on.

your advice is appreciated..

JX... Very versatile reel, you will like it.. I've fished them with 25-40#.. Generally for 30 and 40 though..

JX for sure in the line class you are considering. Keep hunting and maybe you can find the two speed in a lefty they are more versatile. That being said the single is also a great reel.

I fish 30 on my MXL 2 spd and have fished 40 on it as well. Works great. If your going to use spectra it has plenty of line capacity. I would go with the 2 spd.

No in a 30 lb class reel not a big deal. I just like to be able to vary retrieve, and I am getting old so the low gear is helpful sometimes though not necessary.

I fish my mxl and mxj (both 2 speeds) with 30# and love it. If both reels are the same price, go with the 2 speed mxl and don't spend more than $250.
