Smile Avet's service is tops

My HX has always had a slight stiction problem when asked to put out 20lbs at strike. A stickyness when first starting to overpower the drag at low speeds. Once feeding line it smoothed out. I tried burning in the drags with no real improvement. Going on the Indy for 12 days and wanted a smooth 50lb setup. Dropped the reel off at 11:52 and had some tacos when I returned at 1PM they gave me an explanation of how they troubleshot it. Step by step. Now it starts smoothly at 20 -30 lbs of drag. Seems the drag had some type of oil or lotion on the drag. It could not be cleaned to their standards and gave me a new spool.

Was Good to meet you the other day Don!
Actually, this one wasnt a grease or no grease situation. Fully dry they work best, greased they work too, although not reccomended by Avet. This particular reel had some "incidental" waxy contaminant on the carbon washer that didnt cover it uniformly....just enough to make it temperamental. Dunno what it was or how it got there. After some scrubbing and cleaning of the washer, it just wouldnt go away, so I replaced the carbon and the drag plate.
