If its your 'go-to' tackle shop where you know the employees and they know you, and they are taking care of you (ie last minute spool job), then it's cool to kick down some love. Asking for it is kinda ghetto.

Judging by my processing bills, the processors are making plenty of money, perhaps they should be paying the help better.
I don't really care how much the guys get paid or if anybody else has ever considered tipping them. They help me out, give me great service and I just show my appreciation that way with more than a thanks. I see them two, three or more times a year. I appreciate the great service and there's nothing wrong with building that relationship.

i think NO. personally i cant believe people still buy line from bulk spool but to each his own. I spool my own, even if my chick has to put a screwdriver thru the spool and hold it for me. i have a winder now so no more of that. Cant imagine someone else tieing my topshots.

I think you should tip any service person, when YOU feel they deserve, and give them nothing if they suck, no matter the industry. Tell your server, im not tipping you because your attitude was piss poor, or your service was poor. So when i leave dont call me a fucking cheapass, you deserve your stiffed. Learn from it.

People think they are entitled to everything anymore, including food servers that think 20% should be automatic. Number 1- BS, and number 2-if you cant make awesome money from tips you probably shouldnt be working on tips.

I used to work at the Northwoods Inn in LaMirada. Expected great tips always. I was 20young. In retrospect im sure some of the crappy tips i got were the result of not bringing out food promptly. People know when food sits. My fault. If i could do it over, id kick ass serving food. Take it serious, have an awesome tude, and mirror your clients' demeanor. If you get a light tip, brush it off. If you carry the tude to the next table, guess what happens? How do you think i know this?

Its not the money. Its the principal of not giving extra to someone that just put little effort into making your night special, or actually ruined your meal. Homeless guy asked me for 50cents the other day, i gave him a $5. He needed it. He showed me the huge holes in the bottom of his shoes, sad. The man was in a tough place, showed integrity, was honest, and that was that. Its hard to give money to people in service industry that dont get it.

To the contrary i really enjoy giving a nice tip to someone that worked hard for it. Its like SteveK said, he really appreciates the people at 5star. Probably not just their work but that they treat him like family. I dont think steve is broke. Probably feels good throwing the guys a little extra for their work. And also T to I insure P proper S service in the future.
