The JX isn't done yet, but the SX 6/4 MCR is very gradual, each click forward results in a gradual increase in drag. I suspect the JX will be even better.

Just talked to Harry and next Raptor will be the HX, in a couple months, probably 11-1-09. Found out the drag washers are free floating. Looks like every single detail has been done exactly "right". As close to perfect as a reel can be.

As of today, my SX 6/4 MCR is waiting on a spring, till the supplier sends the spring, my reel can't be shipped? I'm getting antsy so I hope it's soon.

Before the guessing goes on ... here are some pictures (with kind permission from Harry to publish them) of the new drag unit which show the extremely clever design. Actually only two additional parts (one bearing and the second drag plate) are needed to achieve the high drag capability.

Btw, this is not an MXJ spool, but a new spool which is slightly bigger than the plain SX spool. Diameter: 50mm (46mm on the SX), Width identical at 37mm.

Wow, talk about a unique design, 2 floating friction discs, with 1 drag disc. Nobody has ever done that before. Very slick, clean, simple design, and effective. Harry should work for N.A.S.A.
Brilliant!

Well, if I'm lucky, I'll have my reel on Friday. It should be ready to ship on Thursday and at my door Friday. Saturday, I'll take it to The Longfin, enter the raffle, and see about filling it with hollow spectra. I'd really like to use 80# JB hollow, but I'm not sure if it will hold 400 yards. May have to use 60# hollow. Hopefully, Rick Osaki will already have all that worked out. I'm getting a JX 6/4 handle, about 1/3 inch longer, and I'll try that too.
