| 60# Setup
I'm looking for a 60# set up.
I was originally looking at the HX, but have read a lot about the handle pressure at high drag.
So, I was thinking about getting an EX 4/02.
As for the rod, I was thinking about a Seeker 6465XH.
Do you guys have any comments or advice as far as my choices?

im gonna try my hx w/60lb this year. gonna pair it up with a 70xh. should be good. the handle pressure doesnt really bother me. plus i have plenty of those bearings, so if one goes out, i can replace it pretty simple. 60lb is kinda the "lost" rig. after 50lb, any application after that, IMO, calls for 80lb. on the shorter trips (like 1-3 day), 60lb really has no use (except for puttin the wood to em in a WFO bite), if you troll with it its kinda frowned on also. now if you were on a longer trip (anything over 4 days) that u may be dropper loop fishin, 60lb is kinda light, youd be runnin the risk of breakoffs, where as 80lb is better suited for the application. those brusier yellows on the dropper loop are ruthless on your gear. honestly i think the last time i used a 60lb rig was at catalina on the farnsworth, where i went 2 for 11 on brusier yellows that just kicked my ass. 1 guy was using 80lb and went 5 for 7. i cant think of a specific application where 60lb is the "go to" rig. IMO i think a 60lb is a novelty setup. something you can say you have. how much it gets used is a different thing. i will try to use it more this year, just not sure if it will be the "best" setup suited for the application at that point in time.

If you are set on an Avet, I'd suggest the ProEX 30. For the rod, the Seeker 6465XH is nice, but the Super Seeker SS-6465XH is a lot better. My .02

I was going to get the Pro EX 30 as an 80# set up. Am I headed in the right direction for an 80# set up?

Hx with the big handle is fine for 60#.. Those other reels are heavy and overkill. Save them for the cows...
I fish 80-130 on the 30ex... That f'in rig rocks (definately my favorite reel) but certainly total overkill along with the 4/02...
My .02...

if ur gonna fish strictly 60lb only, get the hx or hxw. i think 80lb on those would be too much for the reel. if its only 80lb you wanna fish get the 30n. if you want something to fish both effectively, get an _ _ _ _ _ _ _ e. hurts too much to say it!!!!

HX, 6465XH sounds good to me. 80 spectra, short top of 50 or 60. Perfect setup there.

I have a 700xh. Also have HX and 30N. I fish 60# on the HX, 18# strike 24#full. It is a nice fit on the 700xh. The 30N feels too big for that rod.
