My names Kevin Jansen. I caught this yellowtail on June 20, 2009 on my single- speed Avet MXL at San Clemente Island. The fish weighed 32lb. It's my personal best yellowtail. Thanks for the consideration.

| My First AVET, won't be my last!!
I picked up this LX 6/3 just before heading to Cedros on the Shogun for a 5 day. This reel, paired up with a seeker black steel 6470 made short work of the yellows down there. Lots of 15-20lb yellows on the outer edge of the island. Later we moved into the lee to pick off some of the bigger models. These fish were monsters, chomping down 2lb mackeral like they were tic tacs! 30-38lb fish. Here's one of the big bruisers which my new AVET handled with ease. This big boys didn't stand a chance, especially when I droped it into low gear and put the grind on 'em!!!

| 261.2 LB Yellowfin
I caught this Yellowfin Tuna at the buffer zone at Clarion Island on June 8th. This was my first longrange trip and the June Heat trip (May 30th-June 14th) on the Red Rooster III was my choice. Wahoo fishing was epic with a heavy limit caught on my two Avet HX and my Avet HXJ pitching Raider jigs and Sea Strike 33s straight tied Izorline 60 lb. The rod of choice was Super Seeker 6470H and a 6470XH custom built by me. My first cow was caught on the flylined sardine. I was using my Super Seeker 6463 XXXX rail rod that I custom built for me. The reel of my choice was a Avet EX Pro 30W. This reel was loaded to the brim with 100 lb JB spectra and I was using a 20 feet topshot of Izorline 100 lb blue leader with a short 3 feet of Blackwater fluorocarbon. My first hook set on a cow was flawless and the 6/0 ringed Owner Super Mutu (ringed myself) held firm and a half hour later the fish was laying on deck with myself just saying Wow! Without a minute to rest it was my rotation up next on the kite and another Cow (236 LB) falls to a Avet EX Pro 50W with 500 yards of 135 JB and spliced onto that 200 JB Spectra to top the reel off with a topshot of 130 Izorline blue and a Izorline 300 lb kite leader with a 9/0 7691 Mustad hook. This fish was a little hotter as I got it to the boat a little quick and around we went and back and forth across the stern several times. I was fighting this one with the aid of the harness and this cow pinned me to the rail struggling to get out of the harness to keep the fish out of the running gear off the starboard corner. With a little help of the crew and the aid of a push pole the tuna hit the deck...My third was a almost cow (196 lb) on the helium balloon with a flyer on the same reel a hour or so later with the recycled hook and leader as I had used just before on the 236 lb er. Put that fish on deck in like 15 minutes. It ran at the boat and the high gear on the Avet 50 wide kept up somewhat and then the tuna sounded and the shift into low gear brought it up a little green after a few trips back and forth across the stern and that one ended at the port corner with the fish on the deck. All this before lunch. Can someone say lunch time......? I need a break..
All my rods and reels on this trip caught fish and this trip was the first time they were used. I couldn't think of a better way to break in new rods and reels. Thanks to forums like this to answer my questions and the archives of information and the selection of Avet reels as my weapon of choice I can consider this trip a success. I can't wait until the next June Heat Trip, and my reservation has been made......

| white sea bass
I caught this 40# beauty off Santa Cruz Island June 14th. The first sea bass I've caught, the first fish on my new LX 6 MC, paired with a Super Seeker 6480. The first fish on broke a knot, so I retied with improved clinch knots, went with sliding sinker instead of dropper loop on 30# Stren mono, coral color. I don't know if that made a difference as the skipper used clear and hooked three, but lost them all. We fished live anchovies. It was a great day in the islands, plus the work we missed was still there the next day. Ain't that how it works? I bet doctors never heard any deathbed regrets of not having spent enough time at work, and I aim to keep it that way.
I want to add, that when I bought the reel it came with clamp nuts that were a little short for the rod. I phoned after work and spoke with Harry, who sent longer ones out the next day. It turns out Harry's the owner, and that's terrific service. I'm sold on Avet.
