when I cast it out and wind it in it makes a buzzing sound. Its actually kind of loud. Has anyone else experienced this? Also I put 2 - 3/8" inch magnets on the washers from Lee Valley. I could cast out a 3oz sinker approx 65 paces. I think I might change to smaller magnets tomorrow and try again. What has everyone else used in their MXL?

Are you sure your magnets are completely clear of the clicker gear ?

Only 65 paces with a 3 ounce sinker sounds like it is a bit over-magged. Depends on the line and rod, too - however.

My MXJ has one 3/8 in the cup from lee with 30# and it's going alot farther than that with 3OZ and only has a little over run if I am not watching.
you should test your set up with the exact line,test,rod your going to use.

Alright so I opened it up and the clicker gear was rubbing on one of the washers. I moved the washers and put it back together with the 2 - 3/8" magnets. I am going out on a half day tomorrow and will test it. Also taking a screwdriver and magnets with to find the perfect setup.
