| AVET SX Reel Clamp
Does everybody use there reel clamp for there SX?
Just picked up a new SX (silver) before the price increase. I matched it up with a new Lami TFX7020C for fluking. Isn't it a rule you have to get a new rod for a new reel.
Well the reel clamp rubs on my one finger a lot. Anybody else notice this? Its not to bad, just uncomfortable and it got me thinking, do I really need the clamp on? I thought about taking it off while on the water, but not with my luck.

personnally,on a reel that small,as long as you keep it tight,i don't see why its necessary.the larger reels i say yes.

Same here - I've got an SX set up with 17 on a 7' Seeker Inshore custom with a standard issue Fuji reelseat (exposed blank) and have caught Yellowtail, Albies, Calicos, etc - Yellowtail up to about 20# with no problem. No need for the clamp.

I do so nobody takes it on a cattle boat. If you are on a private boat, I don't think it's necessary unless you are fishing about 25lb line and up...

My humble opinion.
I 've been using the SX on a Sabre 270 rod on some quality albies and find that the reel seat on the rod makes it necessary to use the reel reel clamp. Paid for it, may as well use it. 20# is the ticket and the clamp adds a little security when on the cattle boats. LOVE THAT SX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I personally saw Giant Hallibut ( Multiple) to over 90 pounds landed over 10 days on the SX fishing straight 65 pound spectra and NEVER missed a Clamp. It is too narrow and has too low a center of gravity to need the clamp to keep the wobble down. IMHO
The ANTI-THEFT thing is Interesting though, sad for it to be needed for that but interesting.

I run the clamps just for security on all of my reels.. It helps to keep the reels from growing legs on the boat... I will say that when some A-Hole steals all of your tools from your tacklebox and you cannot remove the reels... Then the clamps become a pain in the ass.. To whomever stole all my screwdrivers etc...

For some reason I just like the thought of the clamp on, maybe bcause it makes it feel sturdy or something, idk why. It does rub against my middle finger but its not so bad anymore.
