MXL/MXJ Clicker issues..

My MXL and MXJ have both developed clickers issues.. Both of these are the older 4.5:1 model... The clicker on both of them now drags slighty.. What is the fix for this??

With the lever at the free spool position and then give the spool a spin.. I get a click-click-click noise... Now if I manually force the clicker button all the way up and hold it.. It doesn't click when it spins...

Shhh! This is an Avet sponsored site.

Have you opened 'em and greased the clicker? Mine like grease. Maxima waterproof actually. I'm sure that you have read through Alan's tutorials, follow those for success. Call me if you need some help.

If the clicker button has a black plastic sleeve under it, it's the plastic clicker retaining clip.
The default position of the clicker is on. When I say "default" I mean without the retaining clip, the clicker is engaged

This is a flaw in the design of the Avet reel. The default should be clicker disengaged. They would have to change the postion of the springs so that they pull away instead of towards the gear.

When you order a new clip, order a few extra. Mine only last a year because I use the clicker when yaking. Also be sure to get a few extra "C" clips because we know what happens to those little fuckers.

I agree with aguachico the black plastic retainer clip has worn down and needs to be replaced. I've had a few of those on my reels wear out and when I take them back to Avet they replace them for free for me and they usually have it done in 5-10 mins.
