Avet-MXJ - Clicker Tension question

First off, I did do a search and didn't come up with the resource needed.

So I used my MXJ on the Kayak for the first time this weekend. I was wondering if there was a way to gain more tension to the clicker while the reel is in "bait". While trolling a greenback, the bait can pull line out (when it make s a run).

I was also wondering how this would be on a boat trolling with even more resistance with greater speed.

I did make an on water adjustment and moved the lever a small (RCH) amount into the drag, which gave the resistance need to troll the bait without it having the availability to pull line, but I felt it was just too much resistance. If I got bit, I'm sure the hook would have pulled from the bait nose.

The bait/cast control position is for holding minimal drag for casting or letting a bait run hands free without getting a professional overrun. I prefer my thumb for such purposes. Most Avet owners find this drag position to be of little to no use. A good bait should be able to pull line if the drag is properly adjusted. The clicker adds a little drag also, but probably not enough for your purposes as you found out. You did the right thing by moving the lever a pinch in to the drag. As you get more familiar with the reel you will get your techniques dialed in. After you nail a few fish the drag characteristics change (break in) a little and become much smoother. Enjoy the reel it will serve you well for a long time if properly maintained.
