Anyone else have an Avet Rod

Just bought an Avet rod SX700. Its rated for 20-50lb line and 7.5 feet.

I was planning on using this as my 40 pound bait outfit. Any recommendations on which reel to put on it.

Also, I hardly see these Avet rods on the boats. Any comments on these rods. I figure since Avet makes First class Reels, there rods must also be quality. Thanks in advance for any info.

I would put on LX on it with straight 40.. Most others would recommend a JX 6/3 with spectra and a topshot of 40...

Looked kinda cheap and overpriced to me when I saw them at Big 5 - you can do better.

i don't think I'd use something rated 20-50 as a 40# stick. Maybe 25-30#, otherwise not enough backbone.

hey i was at big five today and the rods looked pretty solid
the rod you have is just a tad bit light for what i might want to fish 40# with
it would work but not my first choice
and i would go for a calstar or seeker above that any day

That is a good deal. A lot of rods are made out of country. I don't see anyone bagging on Shimano rods...
Some of my best rods came from Big 5 and I didn't pay the calstar/seeker prices when I was on a budget.
The best rod is the one that fit's you. Price, feel, and nowadays color.

For the SX700 I'd throw an MXL or JX and fish #30-#40. Well within the range of what the rod was built for.

Some new guy here. I talked to Avet and they say that "The rods are manufactured by the same company that makes Sabre Rods." Pair it with an MXL, 50# spectra and just 30 yards of 30# to 40# mono. I'm going to get the same setup. Some of us ain't rich and the old jigmaster is, well, old. For what it's worth.
