It depends on how you are going to fish. All of the J series are for jigging. For example your mxj is is primarily made for jigging but will work well for bait also.The standard reels mxl, lx, hx2 etc have larger/wider spools so more line capacity. The mxl and the jx will work fine for 30-40. For 40-60 I would look at the hxj or the standard hx. These reel ideal for using a spectra backing so put spectra on with a mono top shot.Be careful these reels are addictive.

I started with an sx several years ago and now have six of them. Hope this helps a little.
